Food & treats (and water)
Water – Must be fresh from the tap. If it’s been sat in the bowl for more than an hour it’s not good enough. Conversly, I’ll happily drink stagnant ditch water or lick abosultely any liquid I can find outside.
Food Main Meal – anytime 4-7pm
*Lower bonemeal if solids become too dry
I’ll expect a fish flatty after my meal. I’ll sometime chance my luck and ignore my bowl of food, hoping I’ll be rewarded regardless. Sometimes it gets served for breakfast the following day, chilled from the fridge, as I’m not allowed to waste it.
Once I do finish and the bowl is clean I like to wash it all down with a fish flatty and drink of fresh water.
I feel like playing straight after food. I’m not allowed to as it can cause bloat. There’s more detail on the Playtime page.
Treats –
2 x fish flatties, 5-10 mins between each one, at some point around breakfast time
Another 2-4 fish flatties throughout the day can be given as treats, usually on return from walk, if I’ve been left alone for any length of time, or if I know where they are and I stare at them for long enough.
Oaty treats – a handful of those in your pocket, while I’m walking will work wonders. These can also be used throughout the day as needed, delviered as individual treats. 1 pack usually last 2-3 days.
When getting treats I can get a bit excited and forget that I need to have a delicate mouth. TELL me ‘Gentle’, then deliver treats with confidence and I’ll be a gentle boy. Equally put them down and tell me to “leave” them, and I’ll wait until you tell me “go on then”.
I am allowed the odd crisp or snack and will usually manage to convince my humans that I deserve at least a little of any meal. I’m a champion plate, bowl, cottage cheese or yoghurt pot cleaner!
Food to stay away from –
Dog treats with chicken and grain – allergic to, causes ear and foot itching and skin issues.
Other dog treats – I’ve a delicate stomach and while I can have little bits here and there, it’s best to stick to the norm.
